Fear Not, Little Flock

You guys, I am so excited! I mentioned in my last post that I'm the newest designer at Worthy Written Words. My debut layout was released today and my heart is so happy. You can head here to purchase it. With each release of my new layout I will be posting here some helpful tips and tricks that I've learned in putting together the page. Here's a picture of the layout in my Deseret Book Doctrine and Covenants:

With metallic gel pens, I added little details to the pop up flowers to make their centers stand out as well as tiny silver dots in the cute little lamb's eyes. I did this before I put them on the page. Also, I recommend underlining the verse BEFORE you put on your sticker page background.

If you head to my Cox's Creations Instagram page, I have a video up on there with a great tip on how to successfully put down full page stickers because they can be a little tricky! Once I figure out Youtube and not accidentally videoing sideways...I'll share more videos here too.

This kit was inspired by Doctrine and Covenants 6:34. In the verse, our Savior tenderly addresses us as His "little flock" and reassures us that we need not fear. It is so telling in how much the Savior loves us with the terms of endearment He chooses for us. Because we are His, indeed we need not fear!

If you work with a larger book of scripture like the Line Upon Line books, they are too large to pull off a full page sticker label in one print. I have made it so you still get the full page sticker look, but getting them to line up straight is tricky too. Even I couldn't do it, and it's my design! Here's my Line Upon Line Version finished:

Here's my page with just the background stickers on:

As you can see there is a tiny gap! That is OK! Here's how to fix it. Get out your colored pencils and get colors that are as close to the background as possible and fill in the gaps. Then, color in and around a few of the details on the page in those colors and now you're page is blended in. You will know there's a "mistake" (which it really isn't one). But nobody else will unless you point it out!

I hope that this tip was useful for you in making this kit if you decide to get it! If you aren't a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, that's totally OK! Anywhere in the Bible that mentions the Savior as a Shepherd or his sheep would be a great place to use this layout. If not, I hope this post inspired you to find a scripture that speaks to you and come up with your own layout. I love designing them so much, I feel like scripture journaling brings me so much closer to the Savior. I'm so grateful sweet Aimee introduced me to it. It has been a blessing in my life, and I hope that it becomes one in your life as well!

Helping You Create Joy

I mentioned in my last post that thanks to my life changing experience with Bridle Up Hope, through help/inspiration from my Heavenly Father, and the courage to actually ask him. I was able to develop my personal mission statement. I had it printed poster sized so that I can see it everyday!

If you've never read the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People", I HIGHLY recommend it! See what I did there?!

With this new year, as in literally on January 1st, I decided it was time to believe in myself. I remember this post from years ago about my purpose of helping others find Joy in the Journey. I knew that Joy had something to do with my mission in life, I could feel it then. I just had to fine tune how and what I would do to bring it!

So I decided to really commit and go big and believe that I can and will succeed at my passion, which is CREATING JOY. I love creating joy in my life, and know that it is my mission to help others create joy in theirs as well. I've started a new etsy shop where I sell planner stickers, and other inspirational things. But I'm most excited about this news:

I am the newest member of Worthy Written Words design team, and I am SO EXCITED! My sweet friend told me years ago that I should do it. I just didn't believe that I was good enough, or that anybody would want what I have to offer.

Guys, I can NOT express enough gratitude to Bridle Up Hope for helping me realize that I.Am.Enough. And the truth of the matter is, not everybody is going to like what I have to offer and that's ok!

I'll be posting my tips and tricks on my layouts here so that way you can learn from my creative process along the way and feel empowered to Create Joy in your life!

I know that with my blog taking a new direction and focusing more on strengthening relationships with Jesus Christ and coming to know of our worth to Him, and His love for us, that some of you may not be interested. I hope you'll stay anyways. I'm so grateful for you hanging around after all these years.

I'll be sharing my first layout's tips and tricks after it goes live, so stay tuned!

God Bless You All!

"Once You Choose Hope, Anything Is Possible"

I was blessed to experience the Women's Program at Bridle Up Hope, and I just wanted to share with you my experience. It really taught me so much, but most importantly it taught me my worth. It gave me the courage to look deeper at myself and ask Heavenly Father what my life mission is and then develop a plan to accomplish it. I have more confidence, more joy, more focus on my true north, and more HOPE.

Hope for a better world, hope for a better me, hope in Christ. This program truly altered my life's course and for it, I am eternally grateful. I wish everybody could have the opportunity to experience Bridle Up Hope. I know I will be putting my daughter in their program for Young Women once she's old enough.

Here are a few of my journal entries that I shared on Instagram, and want to share with you all here:

"I'm told this program tends to find women at just the right time in their lives and as cheesy as it sounds, I have a feeling that it will change my life forever.

Words can't describe what a cool/amazing/exciting/humbling feeling it was when Donovan decided to join up."

"You guys, I totally have a new boyfriend!

I was so nervous to get in the saddle since the last time I rode a horse was when I was around 6 years old!

As I got to the top step ready to get on Captain Jack, I realized that I just need to trust that Jack's got me, that he can carry me, and I just need to do my part to get in the saddle and be a balanced rider.

My reward for trusting him that he had me was an incredible ride. I felt so free and that years of burdens had been lifted off my shoulders.

It really hit me that I do this with almost all (if not all to be honest) of my relationships. I worry that I'm just too much for most people so I don't trust them fully with my heart. I'm robbing them of the opportunity to really get to know me, but most importantly I'm robbing myself of the opportunity to get to know, and learn from, and be lifted by them.

Just like sweet Captain Jack trusts me that I've got him, I know I can trust him that he's got me, and that I'm not too much for such a sweet, beautiful, kind, magnificent animal, and that's the start of a beautiful friendship. I can TRUST that my people have me in my life, and I'm not too much for them. And even if I am too much for some, it's ok! Cause the people and horses that got me, are pretty darn amazing, and I can trust them with my heart.

Thank you @bridleuphope for the chance to learn that life changing lesson."

I felt after that first lesson, that it was going to change my life forever. I can honestly say it has! I have some exciting things happening, and some life steps I'm finally brave enough to take, so keep following along! It's going to be an exciting ride!
